Employability skills

All employers require you to have skills that are additional to the skills gained in your degree. The best way to make sure you are marketable is to develop these while at university.

The great thing about skills is that they are transferable. This means you can develop a skill in a part time job, in a student leadership position, or being involved in sport, community work or a society.

UCT students can find out more about gaining skills through extramural activities by doing the MyCareer Cogs module called Get Involved. Find out more about Cogs here.

Find a list of skills here, and how you would explain these in an interview. Thank you to the Manchester Careers Service who gave permission for us to use this part of their website.
